For this assignment of conceptual painting, I chose ‘spade of queen’ and Joker card and linked them with Queen Elizbeth I and Shakespeare respectively. For the spade of queen- the card symbolizes the crown of labor, self-mastery, it represents a woman who is creative and makes her plans ahead of time. Therefore, this card is connected with queen Elizbeth I as she was the most clever, quick- witted, well educated, hardworking and enthusiastic ruler. Further, she devoted herself to the field of entertainment by influencing the progress of arts and literature. Connecting joker card with Shakespeare as an entertainer and also a wild card. He had a close connection with queen Elizbeth. She was among the royal patrons of Shakespeare plays. She appreciated his work and promoted him by arranging his plays in her court.
